A stand-up comic armed with a Ph.D, Dr. Nancy Berk is a clinical psychologist, award-winning humor writer, podcaster and national entertainment columnist for Parade Magazine. Her psychology background and savvy communication and interpersonal skills have enabled her to land and conduct some of the toughest and most sought-after interviews with Emmy, Grammy, Tony and Oscar winners and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees. With the skills of a therapist, professor and researcher, she has been described as “Dr. Phil meets Tina Fey” and ironically found her book “College Bound and Gagged” featured in the 2012 film Admission starring Tina Fey.

You can listen to Dr. Berk weekly on her Whine at 9 podcast, where she digs a little deeper in the world of entertainment with one-on-one interviews of fascinating celebrities and Hollywood insiders, and she also writes Showbiz Analysis, a weekly online entertainment column for Parade Magazine. Dr. Berk is the “go to” expert on social behavior – particularly competitive spending and high anxiety – who has weighed in on everything from out-of-control college families to over-the-top bar mitzvahs, college cost-cutting, airbrushed beauty ads, Halloween costume psychology and much more. She has been spotlighted in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, CNN.com and is a blogger for The Huffington Post and USA Today College, and is also the creator and voice behind The College Mom Minute podcast and co-host of The College-Bound Chronicles. Appearing on television, radio and onstage with her stand-up comedy, she is also currently an adjunct associate professor at the University of Pittsburgh, School of Dental Medicine. She received her Ph.D. from Vanderbilt University.
